I dont understand your

I dont understand your question, think about a map, being an entyre planet, so there arent limits. That planet is 9 x 9 km square, and it just behaves like an ordinary planet: there arent any kind of limits/borders to it. If you started walking in one single direction long enough, you would reach the same starting place.

- but think of it from a troll perspective, you could just escape attack @ the borders of the map ?

You cannot escape from the map because everything is the gameplay zone. the battlefield is an entyre planet, and planets are spheres, not linear: they never end.

Oh - you mean just map the

Oh - you mean just map the gameplay surface onto a sphere ? It gets a bit more complex than that, and the dimensions wouldn't be square at all. But yes that would be cool - but unless you want a very cartoony look, the area of the play field must be VERY large, ie: earth is a lot bigger than 9kmx9km :-) See Outtera ( http://www.outerra.com ) also Infinity ( https://www.inovaestudios.com/ ) two of my old fellow GameDev.net'ers

btw... wow the Infinity guys have really overhauled their entire operation :-o looking like RSI now :-o

dan is thinking of it like

dan is thinking of it like PACMAN. you have a flat square map. you exit one side and show up on the other.

This is more an idea rather

This is more an idea rather than a suggestion, what about a expensive backer pledge that adds some kind of advertising? I saw the kickstarter of the orion project and they did something like that, i found it very interesting. You get backed, but in exchange you advertise a product or service in your game. Dont get me wrong its not like as if i wanted this feature, but its a nice idea to try to encourage people to increase their backer pledge to higher ones.

I also thought about, instead of having the name in the credits reward for 1$ or more pledge backers, having a digital thank you letter, and maybe wallpapers.

Basically the pledges i found interesting (And that work): (Im not saying you should copy it, but it is very inspirational):

Pledge $1 or more
THE STARTER | This tier will include a Digital Thank You Letter from Spiral Game Studios and a Desktop Wallpaper focused on "The Orion Project".

Pledge $40 or more
THE WANTED | This tier will allow you to have your face posted in-game as either a Missing Carrier Marine Poster or a Wanted Rebel Poster as well as your own graffiti decal put into the game world (no racism, swearing or pornography).

Pledge $200 or more
THE LOUDSPEAKER | This tier will allow you to include a Logo or Emblem which will be featured in the games start up sequence prior to the main menu. This is great for Companies and YouTubers for additional promotional awareness.

Pledge $400 or more
5 backers All gone!
THE BUDDY | Work with Spiral Game Studios and help create your very own Custom Companion Robot for in-game use! No other users will have access to this Companion! Simply send us mood art of designs and robots you love and we will help you bring it to life!

Pledge $500 or more
THE STARK | Work with Spiral Game Studios to design a brand new Weapon for the game. Your (user) name will be engraved in the side for everyone to witness.
Limited (8 of 10 remaining)

Pledge $800 or more
THE FOUNDER | Receive a free copy of every game we ever release - for life. *PLUS* choose any other reward between the $200 and $700 categories!

With a great game showcase and these rewards, they made 15,101 in more or less one day. Cool rewards would encourage people to buy more expensive pledges hus it will be easier to fund the game.

Well i was Reading some

Well i was Reading some things, and i found this:
''Danny's third major project, called Killing Horizon is now in development with a scheduled release date of 2014.''
http://www.radioactivesoftware.com/content/about-radioactive-software

Are you sure? i mean yeah development of the game is going relatively fast, but do you expect on releasing killing horizon this same year? Dont get me wrong, i would love to have this gam as soon as posible, but teres a lot of stuff ye to be done, and only 9 months are left until 2015 arrives, so well you might want to change and edit that date. (Or do you think you really could release the gamen, at least in an early acces state, this same year?).

Very true, I just changed it

Very true, I just changed it from 2013 to 2014, I was just describing the development time and would keep moving it up to 2015 etc. should I change the other date to TBA?

The game will probably not be "done" this year though, I want to test it for about a year and iterate and develop a community, and a great game, before launching. But I think releasing the "early adopter"/"early access" version should be this year sometime! Maybe in months...

Now for something completely different ...

I'm gonna spend 2 weeks working on a quick small project/game called Just Death ... Vigilante style, procedurally generated cities, dark 1st person shooter game. super quick project....read more here... http://www.radioactivesoftware.com/content/introducing-just-death-my-lat...

That game itself will not be totally finished in 2 weeks, but the first version of the pre-alpha will hopefully be available for play/purchase on mid-April :-D so I'll have something out there though.

This doesn't affect Killing Horizon at all. That game is still a crowd-funding campaign and years of work off ... I want to get something small out there while I work on Killing Horizon.

Nice choice, nowadays indie

Nice choice, nowadays indie/small games have a huge success, though most of them are of horror genre (Slenderman) or try to innovate (Goat simulator), and many of them are free and have good quality.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2M-dO7_UKhY
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvWGLcdI8o8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iK3XKEtjfDU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8N3F-HgyKg

I'm not sure what Just death is about, but I think you should try to do something different from what we are used to play, try to innovate, if you succeed you will probably get recognition and even fame. If you fail, well you at least tried to make something new and people will acknowledge that.

But if you try to make an ''ordinary'' type of game (Lets put for example Battlefield, Call of duty, Counter strike...) and it fails, it will not be the same, as that type of game is overused.

Think about minecraft or flappy birds (and Goat simulator, or DayZ) , these games tried to make something different and addictive, and now many people play them and are very famous.

So I think you should build a concept that attracts people, and make a small game out of it. Then start an early access campaign and see if it succeeds, then you could expand it.

I'll be checking if there is any update where you explain what the game is about :)

Check the reply here and youll understand what im exactly talking about:
http://www.radioactivesoftware.com/content/introducing-just-death-my-lat...

BTW I posted some interesting game ideas, I think you could do more than just 1 small game:
http://www.radioactivesoftware.com/content/game-ideas
This way you could usually test your game engine.

Lol yes i throwed here a lot

Lol yes i throwed here a lot od different ideas, even some ideas that dont fit with killing horizon, but that are cool lol. We (or I lol) will probably have more ideas in the future when you will have finished most of the coding/scripring of the game engine, and when you will have started adding game features such as map props, weapons, unit design, etc for the final release.

I have been surprised by the

the new cod has surprised me, this time they really have innovated, although it is really similar to killzone: shadowfall, with some Crysis features, such as the special exosuit.
But that jumpack/jetpack is awesome, the weapons design too, these grenades are so cool... very inspirational overall:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sRUZ9p4oYQ
the new killzone dlc too:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDz2aGWLJn0
the division has a great use of the hologram feature, thanks to it you can see enemies behind a wall, or the entire city map displayed at the floor.

yeah sure all those

yeah sure all those procedural features will be really useful :D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKgWO1QAs3M

I also considered:
http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/3897/op8j.jpg
the hidden blade from assassins creed its pretty cool who knows if this could have other uses, for example for fast melee combat, energy blade could appear at your arm. or launch grenades faster that way.
http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv44/csgrady/Knightcopy.jpg
maybe dual wielding, even for weapons, this could be very well one of the abilities you could choose from.
dual wielding
invisible cloak
energy shield
jetpack
deploy sentry gun
teleportation
slow motion
less gravity (wall walking, parkour etc)
hook
stop time (Freeze?)
etc
just some crazy but inspirational ideas haha not necessary at all for killing horizon though. (for example assasins creed parkour in killing horizon wouldn't make sense, though that's a really cool feature by itself that works really well in other games)

You keep givin him all these Ideas, I'll be able to buy a Tesla car before I could afford this game man. And as for Parkour that would something for more of the irregular soldier, not your basic grunts. Grunts are taught to blow shit up and bash doors down. Not go around them. Otherwise Micheal Bay would be out of a job.

Just a summary of ideas that

Just a summary of ideas that could become possible features of just death and the reasons why they could be great additions to the game:

- Multiplayer game mode where 8 players can play as vigilantes and/or criminals (4 vs 4, or maybe even more, up to 6 vs 6). Criminals have to complete missions such as stealing Banks or transporting something illegal (This last could be considered a secondary side mission which would give a reward and would make the main objective easier) , you are able to complete objectives using stealth only, but you can also go loud and quick. Meanwhile vigilantes have to find them and kill them before they can escape. Both teams have to be careful with police, because if police spots them, they will have to face police forces too. (police, security guards, neutral bands and civilians are controlled by the AI).

- Another possibility is to take all the lights off when its dark, you could get night vision in a side secondary mission as reward, for example. (As I said before, completing secondary side emissions could help you with the main objective, and the vigilantes would not only have to worry about criminals main objective, but the secondary objectives too.) About secondary missions, both vigilantes and criminals could have secondary missions. for example criminals secondary mission is about transporting drugs in vans, and vigilantes secondary mission is about assaulting those vans. Of course they would probably don't know that that they are doing the same mission, and already doing a versus.

- Vaults could be placed randomly inside buildings, so every time you play its a different experience and vigilantes will not know where the vault exactly is, even if they located the building. This way it would be hard for vigilantes to become campers.

-Each map has 2 places either with a Store, a Bank or a Casino (any other possibility?), criminals can choose which vault they want to steal, criminals know the location of the vaults, vigilantes don't. so vigilantes have to discover where are the criminals going.

- Criminals look like civilians and have to act like them so that the vigilantes, and the Police (ai) don't notice them. If the vigilantes discover them, they have to be careful because the Police also can detect and attack them. For stealth purposes, you could sit on chairs and Banks, and make a ''reading the newspaper'' animation. You could take the clothes from someone else and disguise yourself, so if someone spots you and you change clothes, it will be harder to find you.

- Killing civilians Would penalize, so its better to use ropes to silence them, and hide them. If you had no choice and killed someone, you could drag the dead body and hide it, or put it inside a bag. you've to be careful nobody sees a dead body or you killing someone, or doing something suspicious, also if you get too close to police or security guards, they will suspect of you. Of course you have to hide our weapons, if someone sees you with a weapon in the hand they will automatically spot you (even civilians), and you'll have to act quickly or police forces will come for you.

- Use civilians as hostages. For example if a player dies or is arrested you could exchange the civilian for him. Of course while someone of your team is alive, you'll be able to respawn next to him if you wait some minutes. If the last survivor dies before anyone respawns, that team loses.

- Criminals could also pay a bot (AI) that would infiltrate inside the designed place to spot police, security guards, cameras and strange actions hat could be done by vigilantes. could be a reward of a secondary mission. (could be applied for vigilantes too)

_ Of course you can use vehicles and drive them. Vigilantes and criminals will need vans to hide and move fast.

- Something that could be done is that if criminals or vigilantes spots someone doing something strange, they could call the Police (Or security guards), and the Police Would start a search for them (They should hide or change clothes if they don't want to be discovered), this Would be a nice way to take advantage of the Police to eliminite or give problems to the enemy team.

- Placing barricades could be nice, imagine for example being able to place wood pallets on windows. Because you know, after all at the beginning is stealth, if stealth fails, its time for entrenchment, if entrenchment fails, its time for diplomacy, and if diplomacy fails, you better run haha

- To win either the vigilantes or the criminals should escape and reach a safe position. But If vigilantes or criminals kill all the members of he enemy team at the same time, without letting them respawn, they win (Unless police discovers them, then the survivor team have to escape to the safe zone)
Examples:
-Criminals kill all vigilantes without letting the police notice it = criminals win
-Vigilantes kill all criminals without letting the police notice it = vigilantes win
-Criminals kill all the vigilantes, but police discovers them. They must reach the safe zone with what they stole, or without nothing (They won't get that many points if they do this last thing). They reach the safe zone = criminals win
-Vigilantes kill all the criminals, but police discovers them. They must reach the safe zone. They reach the safe zone = vigilantes win
-If both teams died, it would be considered a draw.

There are some games which are about criminals vs police in a multiplayer deathmatch, then there is a criminals vs police coop gamemode, but I've never seen a vigilantes versus criminals multiplayer, and a coop against the police, all at the same time, plus being able to drive vehicles in a random created city, that is different every time you play, and gives you lots of freedom, in addition as it supports oculus rift, it would be a unique and great experience.

Lol, you need to read the

Lol, you need to read the document I've written up about the game w/ potential gameplay modes - it's not public yet though. A lot of these ideas you have are really great!! I totally agree w almost all of this ^ most if it's already in my design, plus a lot more. I'll probably post the stuff I've got when I make a more legit website for Just Death.

Some of the stuff you've described is great, but can be a huge challenge to implement, or depends on multiplayer to be fun.

Thanks for the great feedback man!!

Sure I would take my time to

Sure I would take my time to read that haha.

I know that some features are pretty hard to do, but you could try to set them as objectives, so you would have to take into account that you have to add features that complement each other.

Lets put as example the game Rust. Developers started the game as a zombie survival sandbox game, and after they released the early game version, and people bought it, they decided to delete all the zombies from the game, and change directions. This is wrong, if you see that you're going to add new ambitious features in the future that don't combine well with the actual ones, then try to make that every feature complements each other (even future ones), and don't change the entire game after you have already released it to the public, specially in a early access, where people has faith in you, and buy the game for what it is, and for what it will become. You must not change that. So, adding the gameplay features will be hard, because you must take into account all the possible features you may want to add in the future, before doing the early ones. If not, you'll end changing the entire game from scratch like what happened with Rust.

EDIT:

some other suggestions:
Set a registration method that does not allow bots to register and spam, or makes their task harder.

now lets return to game suggestions... xD

Something important you must consider is health and reviving methods.

As I said before, single player and multiplayer experiences would be very different, in SP you would be a one man army, in multiplayer you would need to play as a team, lets take advantage of that.

- In singleplayer, every time you're hit the screen slowly becomes red, you automatically recover your health if you wait some time and you don't get hurt (call of duty as example). If you die, you fall in the floor, and you can use a pistol or another gun. Then you have 10 seconds to kill an enemy, if you do you get up again, if not, you die.

- In multiplayer you have 100 HP, if for any reasons that HP becomes 0, you fall in the floor. Unlike in SP, you can't use weapons to revive, so in 20 seconds, someone from your team has to reanimate you, if nobody reanimates you, you die. I would include a second type of health, a health that would protect you from the first bullets that hit you, this would be considered armor points, you could have 20 AP, and if you wait and don't get hurt for some time, these points would recover again. Then like in battlefield, your team could have health bags, that would help you recovering some hp. If you die, you would have to wait 4 minutes to revive and respawn next to one of your team mates. Or some of your team mates could release a hostage to exchange it for you, and you would respawn instantly.

now one more thing about animations, what if you added an animation for fatality melee kills and fatality melee stealth kills?
