Introducing 'Just Death' my latest game ...

...

You awaken, the city smells like scum. Somebody has to clean it up.

Nothing left. Just Death.

www.JustDeath.com

Just Death is my take on the Vigilante genre, think of movies like Taxi Driver, Death Wish, and Dirty Harry. The game takes place within a small area of a procedurally generated city. You must rid the streets of thugs and scum. This is going to be a much simpler game than anything I've ever done before. I plan on releasing it as a early-access / pre-alpha build for sale within a few weeks of development. The scale of this project is much smaller than anything I've ever attempted. The game is also centered around a Virtual Reality experience [ DK1 and DK2 of Oculus Rift among others ].

Coming soon....

The game is played from the first person perspective - no main menu, nothing - just drops you into character. Whatever object you're using floats in front of you. There will be a lot of physics based gameplay. Set in 3x3 or 5x5 procedurally generated city blocks - with building interiors.

This also allows me to test systems that will be used in Killing Horizon.

Since Oculus rift was bought by facebook... I'm not sure what is going to happen with it.

By the way, so this is a kind of sandbox game? Though a small sandbox one since it is a small part of the city. I'm afraid there are many other sandbox games out there: Arma 3 , GTAV, Borderlands 2, Prototype, Infamous, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, L.A. Noire, Mafia 2, Just cause 2, Far Cry 3... Even your game Urban empires, and Watch dogs, only that these last 2 try to innovate in the genre, as urban empires combines RTS/FPS in a sandbox like never before, and watch dogs introduces a brand new hacking feature. What is ''Just death'' introducing? Is there a cool or uncommon feature that makes the game attract people? ''You must rid the streets of thugs and scum.'', nice, but will the game combine FPS/RTS too? Will it have multpiplayer/coop? Talk a bit more about its features if you can :)

and yes I agree that this would let you test your game engine and discover issues that you don't have on your PC's, this way Killing horizon and other future games wouldn't have that many bugs.

Check the reply here and youll understand what im exactly talking about:

It's just going to be a quick fun game you can jump into, that will use my game engine - I've got a few ideas :-) It will not really be sandbox, just procedural and different every time you play. Though similar in small ways to each of the games you've listed - even my own, Urban Empires.

It will also be focused on the virtual reality parts of my engine and support as many virtual reality devices as possible - like the Oculus DK1 and the new DK2, which I'm waiting on delivery... *drools* consumer Oculus isn't far off anyways ...

... more info later!

Thanks man!! It's taking a few extra days but it will be worth it :-)

I want to have it out there in a few days/weeks for people to start playing ... The initial gameplay in Just Death will be sort of like this - there will be 1000s of citizens in the city a few will randomly commit crimes, you wander the city in search of criminals. When a crime takes place that character will turn from white to red based on the proximity to the crime/shooting, the citizens will scatter and pulse red for a frequency and time based on their distance to the crime...the criminal will stay red but will flee the crime. Your job as a vigilante is to spot, and kill the criminals as fast as possible without the cops catching you. Sort of hard to explain, will have a simple fun prototype soon!

Plus with all these improvements to the engine, now we can eventually add alien cities to Killing Horizon :-o

I'll release it though this

I'll release it though this site [ www.JustDeath.com / www.RadioactiveSoftware.com ] whenever the first version is ready ... it could be a few days or weeks, I want to make sure it's at least fun before putting it out there :-)

I'll hit you up before I release it so maybe you can help me test it to make sure there are no big issues :-D

It will be running on the same distribution servers that I'm running Killing Horizon on, also the auto-patching system/launcher and the engine is the same core/code base as Killing Horizon. Also Just Death will be the first useage of my Radioactive Software accounts! :-D Whatever avatar you have over here <-- will be displayed on your character in-game!

I can port all this to Steam in a weekend btw. their SDK is super easy to use and already integrated into my engine.
