they released early download information for system builders atm its not AMD compatible I tried monkeying with it few days ago boots up fine but since im using AMD/Duel Boot it gives me the big Linux middle finger
Wow... The entire AMD arcitecture isn't supported :-o I gotta read more into it.
I just want their controller for Win32 API lol...oh, and a HD Oculus.
The X360 gamepad and dev oculus aren't cutting it anymore lol....jk can't wait to show the months of progress I've made getting it all into my engine. I believe it's the future, high def VR and a slick controller hooked to a nice rig. That's ll I need at least :-D. No real preference on the OS I need to program for, I'm just used to Direct3D not OpenGL, and PC windows ( win32 ) verses consoles, or Linux or Mac.
same, im slowly rebuilding my system trying to get full 5 screen eyefinity support with trackir. the controller for steam os is going to be amazing. want to donate to my "I need a badass computer fund"? XD
I think I am starting to lose my mind tho lol. using a wireless afterglow headset and voice recognition to control every part of my computer ^_^
That would be great, but with Oculus and HD VR so close on the horizon would that be a wise investment? If you can get more immersion for $300 ? ( read: can't freakin' wait until high def virtual reality is here ... *nudge Oculus, gimme a freakin' HD Dev Kit!!!* lol... take my left middle toe as collateral :-o )
Still you'll need a "decent" rig since stereoscopic rendering involves rendering the scene twice [ but a way lower res than a giant shared screen x number_of_monitors] so I see that as another benefit of VR headsets. ... the "Movie Theater" app for the Oculus made my $5,000 TV obsolete ... ya know ? It was kind of creepy realizing the degree that a virtual movie theater on a VR helmet+headphones was 10x more immerse than a big ass TV+Surround in a room in your house. I'm also just a virtual reality fanboy :-p
I do need to check out TrackIR and other solutions so I can integrate them into my engine....ah I love being a developer...hmmm guess I need to purchase a 5 monitor eyefinity rig to check compatibility, and errrr...debug, stuff...*trails off and starts blowing shit up in Battlefield 4*
eyefinity is a oddball in the computer market. reason I want to do that is due to the amount of multitasking I do. atm I have 3 screens and there almost always full of webpages games or programs im working on. that and the amount of monitoring I do both with active envirments I mess with and pages
this is just a normal day, only have 2 screens on because my 3rd one is craping out. don't have eyefinity active otherwise these 2 screens would be 1
Niiiice! Yup, I'm a fan of the 3 screen setup - I have a unique computer and keyboard/mouse setups for each lol, all networked (gigabit) probably 9 hard drives between the 3 computers... I think it works well. I have the main computer keyboard/mouse mounted under the desk [ w best wired Gaming mouse/KB etc ], then a 'test/gaming computer' which is a beast in front of me w/Bluetooth mouse/KB on a 27" Nvida 3D 120hz [ Oculus is hooked to that one ], then a big ol' 30" monitor ~ 2550x1770 native running my one MAIN dev/work machine 45 degrees to my right of front, which is specifically underpowered/old [ core2Duo, 4GB RAM, does have a new Nvidia 5xx series? card though ] to maintain minimum specs for my engine [ that's getting old, I'm about ready to jump to DirectX 11 lol ] , but it's still a great computer , then I have another computer to my right 90 degrees which is for web & also testing of the engine on a Core2Duo 2GB RAM/8800GTS setup - been using since 2007 I guess? lol... that's also hooked up to another 27" Nvidia 3D 120hz w/wireless KB/Mouse. Then I have another LED monitor for watching TV while I work to my left 45 degrees... but that's not even hooked up anymore lol ... actually the pic is here ... *facepalm*
I do have a KVM switch hooked up as well, but I find it's faster to sort of line up all 3 keyboards: one on my lap, one mounted under desk, and one ON the desk - LOL you should see me working like a madman.
Not sure if I could work faster with this setup or a eyefinity setup like you mention ... I suppose I like this because I can set one computer to blaze away on calculations / builds while I have a totally independent machine(s) to do other work at 100% efficiency.
I also have a whole array of computers at my office, maybe 8-10 unique computer+monitor stations? I use for testing multiplayer, setup all that stuff around 2010/2011 - it's funny to see me running around to each one and check it's all working LOL... maybe I'll post vids of that during Killing Horizon dev :-p
Thanks for the TrackIR link - I've got it on my reading list now :-)
for that setup it may be faster the way it is now. with eyefinity they link all the screens together as 1. it works best if all screens are the same size and resolution otherwise you get oddball issues with mouse movement.
